Running a small b2b services business is tough at the best of times (sometimes, when I go into the corner store down the road, I wish I had opened a shop instead), but the current economic climate is making it more difficult. Though my clients are mainly in the UK, and the people who work with me are in the UK, the software we use, on a transaction model, is from the US, so fluctuations in the dollar / pound exchange rate mean that my margins vary from day to day. OK, not that much normally, but over the last 24 hours the pound has been sliding, pushing up my costs. Further, without a track record in business, I have no access to credit. as a result, I have had to increase the basic cost of our services. I wish I hadn’t had to, but there you go. I have to say a big sorry to all my clients, and a big thank you as well – without them I wouldn’t be where I am now. I just hope that we can all ride out the storm, and see sunny times ahead.
